Will & Devon at ESPN The Party

Held at San Francisco’s historic Fort Mason Center, ESPN The Party featured D-Nice at the DJ table and a live set by Nick Jonas. We were parked right next to the red carpet, where the Express Interview Lounge co-hosts, ESPN’s SportsCenter correspondent Will Reeve and Express model Devon Windsor, had exclusive access to the VIP lineup.

Will looked like he’s after a modeling gig in his navy suit and Devon owned that halter top and skirt. Kudos to our girl for being a total pro despite a major travel delay that had her flying cross-country just in time to make it. (Whew!)

ESPN The Party

The pair got the scoop on game predictions and party dream guests from stylish football players past and present like Tyrod Taylor, Marcedes Lewis, Dhani Jones, Santonio Holmes, Anthony Hamilton and Sammy Watkins. Comedian Finesse Mitchell stopped in, along with Miss USA Olivia Jordan and Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach (if their game was seeing who could work a cut-out dress harder, we’d call it a draw). Also on the guest list: Tim Tebow, Terrell Owens, Reggie Bush, Ashley Greene, AnnaLynne McCord and a dressed-to-kill Chanel Iman.

Inside, a crowd of over 2000 grooved to D-Nice’s party mix and lined up at our booth to snap pics, check out new looks and snag an exclusive Express/ESPN tee. Nick Jonas took the stage to cap off a stellar event, then out came a surprise guest: his brother Joe, to perform “Cake By the Ocean” from his band DNCE.

Such an exciting night. Thanks to ESPN, Will, Devon and everyone who came out to our booth or watched on Snapchat or Periscope. We’ll see you at the next party!

RED CARPET TRENDS AT THE TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL®

Take a look at what walked down the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival this year and you’ll find some of our favorite trends of the season. From sexy lace and standout embellishment to some extra-sharp suiting, here are a few of the looks we loved the most.

RED CARPET STYLE AT THE TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL®

At the premiere of her new movie Septembers of ShirazSalma Hayek totally rocked a curve-loving dress in the red-hot shade of berry. Lace and cut-outs made the scene on model-actress Analeigh Tipton at the debut of the new Ryan Reynolds movie Mississippi Grind, and on It girl Kate Mara at the premiere of her new movie Man Down. Kate was spotted earlier in the week at The Martian premiere in shimmering statement embellishment, a look that also worked beautifully for her co-star in that movie, a burnout velvet-clad Jessica Chastain, and for Kate Winslet. Her high neck halter gown at the premiere of The Dressmaker featured a bodice framed by multicolored sparkle.

For the guys, Tom Hardy brought his A-plus suit game to the debut of Legend with an impeccably tailored three-piece in trending tweed, and The Martian star Matt Damon used his premiere appearance as an opportunity to show the world not just how to perfectly dress down a suit, but how to wear all black without going too dour or dramatic. Also on-trend and in the spotlight: Double-breasted suiting, as worn by The Martian co-star Donald Glover and High-Rise star Tom Hiddleston.

THE RECAP: TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL® OPENING WEEKEND

What an amazing opening weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival! We’re still buzzing from all the fun stuff to do and all the celebs in close proximity.

Express pop-up at TIFF

With King Street West closed for the multimedia interactive attraction known as Festival Street, the Express team set up camp in our Airstream trailer. There was lots of love for the new party looks we had on display, and we’ve loved seeing people walking around town with the exclusive festival tote bags we were printing and sharing. (Did you get one? Let’s see it on Instagram!)

Some of our other fave attractions were the fleet of 40 giant orange balloons on the street, one for each year the festival’s been around, each adorned with icons related to a favorite festival movie from the past, and an interactive machine where anyone could pick up street dancing skills through the magic of stop-motion animation.

On opening night, we took a break for the gala party at festival headquarters, TIFF Bell Lightbox. It’s a cool spot to visit even without the live music and champagne, but that def didn’t hurt, and it was a blast to get a bird’s eye view of the action on the street.

Jake Gyllenhaal & Naomi WattsEllen Page at TIFF

For red carpet moments so far, we have to give it up for Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts, here for the opening night debut of Demolition, and Tom Hardy, who was on hand for his new film Legend. Both took a lot of time to work the huge crowds gathered for the premieres and Hardy earns extra points for doing it in the middle of a rainstorm. Soaked or not, we’d watch that guy read a shopping list. Style-wise, we couldn’t get enough of this menswear inspired look on Ellen Page, who was promoting her movie Freeheld with Julianne Moore.

Next up: Some of our favorite trends on the #TIFF15 red carpet.
